Bozeman Camera’s 2nd Annual Photo Expo
Marshall Lewis and the crew from Bozeman Camera & Repair held their second annual Photo Expo in Bozeman, Montana this past weekend. It was a free day of inspirational photography by well known photographers and reps from the photo industry, including fellow photographer and friend Darrel Gulin, Nikon Rep Rose Whitaker, Canon Rep Jim Dicecco, Long time Montana photographer Kelly Gorham and Mr. Yellowstone himself, the amazing Tom Murphy.

Tom’s in a league of his own when it comes to winter photography in Yellowstone. How many people can say they crossed a back country river, naked, in the winter, so they wouldn’t get their clothes wet thus avoiding hypothermia? Exactly. I didn’t think you knew anyone else who can make that claim. Would have loved to get a photo of that, from the back of course.
Nikon’s Rose Whitaker brought the relatively new Nikkor 800mm F/5.6 lens with her and I actually got to hold and shoot this phenomenal optic of desire. Amazingly it’s not much larger than the 600 f/4 which I hand hold regularly. Using the D4 or D600 with this lens in VR mode gives you the ability to hand hold it and get razor sharp results.

Overall it was another nice event put on by the good folks of Bozeman Camera & Repair. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We are so lucky to have two of the best camera shops in the nation right here in Bozeman, Montana. Between Bozeman Camera & Repair and F11 Photo, the opportunity to buy too much gear is always a possibility.
