Kelp Gull Nesting on Lichen Colored Rock
We spent the entire day on Half Moon Island today – full of chinstrap penguins, one macaroni penguin, a few gentoos and a couple of adelies for good measure. Most of the chinstraps were on their nests, hunkered down, keeping eggs warm. The island was almost completely covered with snow and the weather was on again off again, clouds with some snow showers. It’s finally feeling a bit like Christmas and I found a beautful nesting kelp gull who’s nest site was so colorful it was almost as if the pair had decorated it for the holiday season. Hope you enjoy the image as much I enjoyed taking it.
