About Michael Spain
In my professional career, I am a super specialist. In my photography world, I move the other direction and work diligently at mastering a variety of photographic disciplines. I love high speed photography such as wildlife, formula one racing, air shows, and grandchildren. I love landscapes with methodical carefully thought out shots. I love portraiture with all the risks involved with showing people images of themselves (my vision may not be their vision) --- oops!). In all these, I want to make every pixel count as I love moving to large prints. Printing is the single most important activity that has improved my photography -- it makes me accountable to myself. What looks good on a small screen falls apart on the printed page. It keeps me from getting lazy and pushes me to get more and more right in camera.

2019 South Africa Ultimate Cat Experience
This trip was probably the most productive shoot I’ve ever had in all of Africa. We were especially lucky to find two different packs of African wild dogs, we had over twenty leopard sightings, lots of elephants and all kinds of other African critters. It was another wonderful adventure in the wilds of Kruger National Park and extended game reserves.
