May 29th - June 6th, 2026

Nestled off Scotland’s northwest coast between Norway and Iceland is Europe’s best-kept secret, the enchanting Faroe Islands!

Picture this. A stunning volcanic archipelago comprised of windswept mountainsides and rolling hills. Dramatic coastline and jagged, moss-covered cliffs dotted with misting waterfalls and precariously perched, picturesque lighthouses. Sweeping lush, verdant green grasslands speckled with Faroese sheep and ancient turf-roofed houses. Quaint villages, sparkling with culture and colorful Scandinavian architecture.

The Faroe Islands are a puffin’s paradise. Thousands visit the islands every year from April to September. And puffins aren’t the only visitors. This remote location is a magnet for about 100 other bird species that migrate over the North Atlantic Ocean.

Breathe in the fresh seaside air as you marvel at Faroe’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant Nordic seaside villages. Join our friend and local photography guide, Thomas, on this exciting island excursion to the Faroe Islands!

  • Helpful Information for 2026 Faroe Islands Photography Tour

    Weather

The weather in the Faroe Islands is unpredictable and highly changeable, so be prepared! The islands are generally windy, cloudy, and cool throughout the year. Variations in altitude, ocean currents, topography, and wind mean the climate differs greatly, even though distances between locations are small.

June is one of the drier months in the Faroe Islands, but likely, there will be some splashes of rain. Average temperatures in June vary between lows of 45°F and highs of 52°F but could feel cooler depending on the conditions.

    Language

All of the locals speak English.

    Wi-Fi

There is free Wi-Fi at the hotel, Hotel Foroyar, and in public areas, which is all good and reliable.

4G is available right across the islands. If you want limitless access to data on your phone, you can pick up a SIM card from the local telecommunications company named Hey.

    Currency

There are two currencies of equal value in the Faroe Islands: the Faroese króna and the Danish krone. While the Faroese government prints its own bank notes, only Danish coins are used. Danish notes are as equally acceptable as Faroese notes throughout the country.

Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in the Faroe Islands. If you wish to pay with cash, ATMs are available.

    Electricity

230-volt, 50 Hz, plug types F (also works with plug types C and E) and K (also works with plug types C, E, and F)

    Alcohol

The only place you will find alcohol is at the Rúsan stores that can be found on all larger islands. The largest Rúsan store is in Tórshavn in the small shopping mall Miðlon. The selection of wines, spirits, and beers is excellent. But prices are NOT for the faint-hearted.

If you want some beer, wine, and the like to enjoy while you’re in the Faroe Islands, then your best bet is to purchase it at the airport. Alcohol is heavily taxed on the islands, but at the airport, it is tax-free.

    Transfers

If you arrive or depart on non-itinerary days, there is an airport taxi service you can pre-book.
