After a 16-year career as a sport psychology professor at the University of Illinois, I founded Human Kinetics, (human kinetics.com) which has gone on to become the largest publisher of sports and physical activity resources in the world. I served as the sport psychologist for the U.S. Ski Team from 1978-84 and am the founder of the American Sport Education Program which has had more than 2 million coaches complete courses. I've written 17 books, one of which has sold over a million copies (Successful Coaching). My photography interest began about 10 years ago as I stepped back but not completely away from the publishing company. For the last 17 years I've played senior slow pitch softball and was elected into the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2009. With my wife Julie, we love to travel and photograph the beautiful things and places on this planet. You can see my work at MartensGallery.net and RainerMartensPhotography.com.
